Summer Exhibition with Mary Spicer


Mary Spicer returns to exhibit in our flint barn

As Mary Ursula Woolner, she was born in SW Essex in 1954, daughter of John R. Woolner and his wife Ursula M. née Palmer, who married in SW Essex in 1953. Mary married in the Mid-Devon area in 1978, David J. Spicer, and paints under the name of Mary Spicer. Mary taught in secondary schools in London and East Anglia and taught 11 to 18 year old's at the Sir John Leman High School, Beccles, Suffolk 1996-2001 and has worked for many years as an Adult Education tutor for Suffolk County Council in Life Drawing, General Drawing and Painting. As well as tutoring for private art establishments, Mary currently runs workshops and gives talks to local Art Societies as well as teaching short courses in watercolour. A member of the 'Norwich 20 Group', 'the Norfolk Contemporary Art Society' and the Hartest and Beccles Art Trail and has also exhibited at the John Russell Gallery, Ipswich from her home at 28 Pakefield Road, Lowestoft, Suffolk.
